Q&A with wsubball.com
1. When was the first time you heard of Weber State?
I first heard of Weber State when I came to play high school basketball in Salt Lake. I quickly found out that Weber was one of the best schools in the state and I was really glad when they started recruiting me.
2. How were you recruited?
I was recruited by the previous coaching staff. Coach Stroia was the person that took care of my recruiting. However, I am really happy that Coach Rahe decided to keep me around when he came in and that I have the opportunity to be part of this new process.
3. Why did you come to Weber State or how did you decide on Weber?
I signed early so I didn’t have many offers coming out of high school. Weber was the most appealing offer out of the few that I had because of its tradition, its people, and its education.
4. How do you like Weber State/Ogden/Utah?
I love it here. I have had nothing but a good experience in the four years that I’ve been here. I think people here are extremely friendly and that has helped me adapt a lot quicker.
5. What is your Major?
Business Administration.
6. What do you plan/want to do after you graduate?
I want to play professionally in Europe.
7. What is your favorite professional sports team?
I don’t really have a particular one. However, I always want teams in the NBA with South American players on their rosters to do well.
8. Movie?
Good Will Hunting.
9. Recording artist?
T.I.
10. Something interesting about you or something you’ve done that WSU fans wouldn’t know?
I don’t think many people know this but my brother Juan Manuel is going to play high school basketball at Layton Christian this year. This is the first time I’ve had any family members here. I am really excited to watch him play and I couldn’t be happier to have him here with me.
11.Nickname(s)?
In Spanish my nickname is Juampa.
